Sign up for a volunteer shift at Learn 2 Derm here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NwF9OZGVvVtgQe8-MlSEiygVWOnW0oIbXLJfgeSDH28/edit?usp=sharing

See details below!

There continues to be a striking disparity in disease burden in patients of color and patients with low income. Wards 7 and 8 are the poorest regions in our nation's capital with a population that is 92% black. Access to dermatologic care is limited, yet there are multiple conditions that often go untreated due to lack of awareness or disease misconceptions, leading to severe disease that negatively impacts quality of life. We aim to increase awareness of the most common skin diseases as well as skin cancer, to improve personal recognition and understanding of treatment options, risks of untreated disease, and impress upon community members when it is appropriate to seek care.

A little about the event: This will be a fun event with different prizes, educational stations, and skin-health oriented activities. We will also be distributing free sunscreen samples and skin care products!

How can I help? There are many ways in which you can help! Please sign up on the volunteer sign-up spreadsheet to see all the choices from which you can choose to help! More things may be added as planning continues!

Arrival time: Depending on your station/ task, the arrival time may differ, but we still ask that everyone arrives at 11:00am to ensure that everything is in order! At the end of the event, volunteers are expected to clean up their station at minimum (stay until ~5:30pm).
